Ten Tips To Do At Home

  1.  If you find a stain in your carpet, never scrub at it. Scrubbing will only spread it around further or push it deeper into the carpet. It is better to blot at the stain gently, with club soda, or a mixture of white vinegar and water.
  2. Use non-toxic cleaners. This way, you can encourage your kids to become involved in helping keep the house clean.
  3. Clean the grout in your bathroom regularly, to avoid chipping, mildew and the build-up of bacteria on surfaces. Use a solution of one part bleach to four parts water, and use an old toothbrush to scrub at the tiles.
  4. Clean your sofa covers with a solution of mild solution of laundry detergent and warm water. Every week, give them a once-over with the vacuum to keep them looking good.
  5. To keep your carpet looking fresh, have it steam cleaned at least once a year. This will clean out dirt, grease and grime that build up over the course of the year and become embedded in the fibers
  6. When cleaning a rug, dab a small amount of cleaning solution onto a small unnoticeable area. Wait 30 minutes and if the colors do not bleed, you can proceed with the cleaning.
  7. In the kitchen, wipe counters down with Lysol and water. If you are going to use a sponge, make sure you use a different sponge for each specific job. This will avoid spreading bacteria around. Using paper towels in the kitchen is also recommended.
  8. If you have a heavy spill on your carpets, blot up as much as possible and then cover the stain with a towel. Put something heavy over the towel and leave it overnight. This will help absorb the liquid.
  9. A little borax and a damp sponge is a good way to to clean sinks, showers and toilets. It's also safe for septic systems and is eco-friendly.
  10. Clean the fringe of your rug by hand. Take a spray bottle filled with cleaning solution and spray it on. With a cleaning brush, pay special attention to spots and stains. Always brush the fringe in its natural direction, to avoid tearing it.
